Liberty County Hospital and Nursing Home Completes Facility Strategic Plan
Liberty County Hospital and Nursing Home (LCHNH) in Chester, Montana, includes a Rural Health Clinic, hospital, nursing home, and assisted living facility. On November 21, 2002 and March 12, 2003, the governing board and key staff of LCHNH met to develop a three year organizational strategic plan. MPCA staff, Mary Beth Frideres, facilitated the meetings which included a review of the history of the organization, an analysis of the current internal and external environments and trends impacting the delivery of services, the creation of new mission and vision statements, the identification of priority strategic directions, and the development of a detailed action plan.

The idea of developing a strategic plan was put forth by the facility’s new CEO, Walter Busch. “In this rapidly changing health care environment,” says Walter, “it is essential for us to have a proactive and strategic plan upon which to base our current and future decisions. The planning process provided us the opportunity to accomplish this with good interactive discussion between the board, medical staff, administrators and representatives from clinical departments.” Walter went on to say, “We recommend this process to anyone interested in developing such a plan – it exceeded all of our expectations.” Walter can be reached at 406-759-5181.
