Yellowstone City County Health Department Raises Funds for the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)

(L-R) Nick Wolters, Michelle Hood, Lil Anderson, present a check to Judy Martz & DPHHS Director Gail Gray for the CHIP Program.

Yellowstone City County Health Department (YCCHD) staff, along with St. Vincent Healthcare and Deaconess Billings Clinic employees, are proud of their efforts to assist the 41,500 Montana children who do not have health insurance coverage. In conjunction with Cover the Uninsured week, they were able to raise just under $3,400, providing for 11 more children to be covered by the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

The federal government matches state CHIP contributions 4 to 1.  Late last year, the YCCHD Board of Health passed a resolution asking the Governor and the 2005 legislature to “invest in the future by ensuring that all of Montana’s children who lack health insurance are covered.”
