MPCA to Help Montanans to Receive Medicare Drug Cards

The Montana Primary Care Association (MPCA) is one of seven Primary Care Associations nationwide to be awarded $30,000 by the National Association for Community Health Centers (NACHC) to educate and assist low-income seniors and the disabled in Montana to understand and enroll in the Medicare-approved discount drug card. MPCA expects to educate 10,000 people and assist 5,000 low income Medicare beneficiaries across the state in applying for the Medicare-Approved Drug Discount Cards by February 28, 2005.

MPCA will establish partnerships with agencies that work with seniors and the disabled, provide educational materials and technical assistance to accomplish the education and enrollment goals of the grant. In addition to helping seniors and disabled persons to receive up to $1,200 dollars annually for their prescription drugs, MPCA will develop effective outreach strategies for hard to reach populations, and build expertise and visibility for future efforts to assist Montanans with Medicare prescription drug benefits.

If you are interested in participating in this program, or are a senior or disabled Medicare beneficiary with questions about the Medicare-approved Drug Discount program, please contact the MPCA for assistance.
