Having dedicated over 30 years to community health and advocating on behalf of the underserved, Lil Anderson, Executive Director of Deering Community Health Center, was honored at the recent Policy and Issues Forum in Washington, D.C. by being inducted into the National Association of Community Health Center Grassroots Hall of Fame. Grassroots Hall of Fame Members are honored for having made lasting contributions to insuring the creation, survival and strength of Health Centers and the Health Center movement through their dedicated and tireless efforts over many years.
Anderson currently serves as Chair Elect of the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC). Founded in 1970, the National Association of Community Health Centers, Inc. (NACHC) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance and expand access to quality, community-responsive health care for America’s medically underserved and uninsured. In serving its mission, NACHC represents the nation’s network of over 1,000 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) which serve 16 million people through 5,000 sites located in all of the 50 states, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam.
Anderson has served on task forces and committees appointed by several Montana governors to focus on improving health care through out the state. Anderson also served on the Department of Health and Human Services task force created to implement the President’s initiative to expand health centers and double the number of patients served. She has met with Members of Congress on NACHC’s behalf in addition to serving on a number of NACHC committees.
“Lil has been a passionate advocate on behalf of health centers,” said Tom Van Coverden, President and CEO of NACHC. “Our grassroots is the backbone of the health center movement and we would not be here today in such full force without people like Lil. We deeply appreciate Lil’s tireless work and dedication.”
